A face shape detector with measurements to read
The face shape detector estimates your outline from a front-facing photo and shows its ratios. Use the result when considering hair or checking the shape you see in the mirror.

Free scoring, no registration. Your photo stays on your device during free scoring. Ages 18+; use your own face. A full report costs 200 credits; $9.99 buys 200 credits (Standard pack, before tax). One-time credit pack, no subscription; credits never expire.
The tool compares face length and width, forehead width, cheekbone width, and jaw width. These measured dimensions locate the broadest area and distinguish longer outlines.
A shape label summarizes several ratios. Read them too: the same label can describe different foreheads or jaws. The model estimates one of six categories; your outline need not match a diagram exactly.
Before taking your measurement photo, move hair off your forehead and cheeks. Keep the jaw outline clearly visible too.
Face the camera directly, chin level, with soft front light. Avoid close wide-angle selfies. A shaping filter gives the model an edited contour. Confirm you are at least 18 and the face is yours, then upload or take a selfie without registering.
The tool uses the six categories below. Hairstyle ideas beside each shape label are suggestions, without promised results.
| Shape | Outline clues | One hairstyle idea |
|---|---|---|
| Oval | Longer than wide, with a softly rounded jaw. | Try layers that leave some cheekbone contour visible. |
| Round | Length and width appear similar, with a rounded jaw. | Try some height at the crown if you want a longer-looking outline. |
| Square | A more angular jaw with similar widths across the outline. | Try softer layers around the jaw if you want less emphasis there. |
| Heart | A broader upper face narrowing toward the chin. | Try fullness near the jaw to balance the silhouette. |
| Diamond | Cheekbones appear widest, with a narrower forehead and jaw. | Try bangs that add some width around the forehead. |
| Oblong | Noticeably longer than wide, with a more extended outline. | Try volume at the sides if you prefer less apparent length. |
Your estimated category need not limit your styling. Pick any hair idea you like.
When reading the results, inspect the widths: is the forehead broadest, or are the cheekbones wider? The comparison also uses length to distinguish oval from oblong.
Check the measurement photo for a turned head or raised chin, which alter apparent dimensions. The same photo on the same device gives the same result; another can change it. Compare a surprising shape estimate with a level mirror view.
Alongside the face shape detector estimate, free results show an overall 1–10 score and five component scores. The jaw & face shape category compares jaw width with cheekbones and face width with length. Other categories cover symmetry, proportions, eyes, and nose & lips.
These component scores estimate photo geometry. Being labeled oval by the model is no better than round, square, or heart. Skin, hair, and makeup are outside scoring, although hair can obscure the outline.
Free measurements happen in your browser using a face landmark model. Your picture does not upload or leave your device during free scoring. You can read the free shape estimate without buying anything.
The optional report includes detailed ratios and reference ranges, the leading reason for a lower score, and everyday suggestions, including hair and makeup for the estimated shape. Unlock the full report. Buyers must be 18 or older. After purchase, clicking Generate sends the photo to our server for an AI-written report. We tell the AI service not to store the request history. Anthropic says its API deletes inputs within 30 days by default. That is a separate step from the free measurement process.
Is the face shape detector free?
Yes. The shape estimate and measured outline ratios are part of the free results.
Can a face shape detector work with my hair down?
Move hair back first so it does not cover the forehead, cheekbones, or jaw.
Does the face shape detector choose a hairstyle for me?
The shape offers a starting point. Your taste and how your hair behaves still matter.
Why does my estimate say oblong instead of oval?
Read the length relative to width; oblong describes a more extended outline.
Is my estimated shape label permanent?
It is an estimate from the submitted photo. Another angle or lens can change visible proportions.
Is there a tool that tells me which hairstyle suits my face shape from a selfie?
The free face shape detector estimates one of six shapes: oval, round, square, heart, diamond, or oblong. The full report includes hairstyle and makeup suggestions for your estimated shape.
